Moving Checklist
Our list provides you with a guide you can follow during the moving and real estate sale process. You can print this list for your own records.
- Find a new home or apartment you like. Make all your arrangements with landlord for occupancy.
- Have a estate sale or moving sale to get rid of unused items and furniture. Remember moving companies go by the wt. of your shipment and cubic feet.
- Get boxes from our online store. This includes tape, rope, bubble wrap, box bundles and other packing supplies.
- Get several moving estimates from movers off-line and online.
- Check the moving scam boards. Better safe than sorry!
- SELECT A MOVER
- Change the address of your home or apartment with usps.com.
- One week before you move change your accounts including utilities, bills, cable, prescriptions, to new address. Use a service like allconnect.com
- Get a map to your new location from a online source like mapquest.com.
- Four days before moving day start packing. If you're moving a whole house start packing a week before moving day.
- After packing is done, start cleaning and getting rid of last minute items. Make sure your movers use runner's so carpets don't get stained.
- On moving day have all entrances clear and gas turned off. If you can make sure the stove, dryer, washer are all unhooked this will be helpful for your mover.
- Get your security deposit and return keys to landlord. Remember your landlord will not give a security deposit until he does an inspection of your apartment.
